Practice hardware gets bought wrong in two directions. Too little, and the front desk watches a spinning cursor every morning. Too much, and you paid for capacity that will age out before anyone ever uses it.
Practice management and imaging software have published requirements. We read them, then size the machine for the way your office actually works. A practice taking digital sensors in six operatories puts a different load on a server than one running a single scanner in the back.
If your software vendor hosts the database on their end, you may not need a server at all, and we will say so. There is no reason to buy hardware for a closet when the work is happening somewhere else.
The front desk, the operatory, and the doctor's office are three different jobs, and one machine is rarely right for all of them. Operatory machines get wiped down all day and usually live on a wall arm. Front desk machines have more windows open at once than anything else in the building. We spec them separately, so each one fits the work it is doing.
Machines are set up the same way each time, so a replacement drops in with the same software, the same printers, and the same drives as the one it replaced. Nobody has to relearn a workstation because it is new.
Hardware gets replaced when it is causing problems or when it stops receiving security updates. Those are the two reasons, and we will show you which one applies. When something does need to go, we tell you what and why, and we plan it around your calendar so nobody is standing at a dead workstation with a full waiting room.
A server swap is the one job in this business you do not improvise. The new machine is built and tested before anything comes out of the rack. Data moves on an evening or a weekend. Then we are there for the first morning of live use, because that is when whatever we missed will show up.
